Racing to the Hoste*

The Hoste in Burnham Market is putting a spring in our guest’s step in 2013 with a bespoke package which shows just how much fun North Norfolk can be in January, February and March.
We have got together with our local Racecourse to offer guests a day’s racing with transport to and from the course and a delicious Hoste lunch hamper provided. Hoste guests will be welcomed and invited to walk the course an hour before the first race during a day which is suitable for racing aficionados and complete novices.
Fakenham Racecourse is renowned for its exciting National Hunt (jumping not flat) racing with nail biting finishes. The tight one mile circuit makes for furious racing action and top jockeys often ride in these contests. The atmosphere is electric and very friendly, with a dress code of ‘warm and comfortable.’
Recognising how many of our shared customers love their hounds, both Fakenham Racecourse and the Hoste are dog friendly.

Hosting Houghton Revisited

An exclusive VIP experience has been arranged for guests of the nationally acclaimed hotel The Hoste in Burnham Market, Norfolk, to have a private talk and view of this year’s Blockbuster exhibition, Houghton Revisited. Running from 17 May – 29 September 2013, this is a unique opportunity to view one of the most famous art collections of eighteenth – century Europe.
In 1779, Sir Robert Walpole, who was Britain’s first Prime Minister, sold his legendary art collection to the Russian Empress Catherine the Great, who used them to form the internationally renowned Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg. Two centuries later, the Marquess of Cholmondeley is bringing his ancestor’s fabulous collection back to Houghton Hall. The exhibition will include extraordinary masterpieces by Van Dyck, Poussin, Albani, Rubens, Rembrandt and Valazquez, as well as paintings from the English, French, Italian, Flemish and Spanish schools.
Houghton Hall is close to The Hoste, both geographically and historically. It is a ten mile drive through country lanes to this beautiful house and gardens – and since, in 1817, our Sir William Hoste married Lady Harriet Walpole, who was Sir Robert Walpole’s granddaughter, we have a very special relationship!

The Hosting Houghton Revisited package is strictly limited to 20 guests. Each two day package is available on Tuesday and Wednesday or Wednesday and Thursday to see the exhibition only on the following dates. Wednesday May 22, May 29, June 5 and June 12.
