The Hoste chose Wells Community Hospital to support at its annual Trafalgar Day Dinner.
Glasses were raised in honour of maritime hero Admiral Lord Nelson at the magnificent dinner staged in The Hoste’s stylish Garden Room. The evening featured a talk from local historian Jeffrey Bonas about ‘Life on The Ocean Waves’ followed by entertainment from the award-winning ‘Blakeney Old Wild Rovers’ who kindly donated their fee to charity. The Hoste has a strong link with maritime history – The Nelson Lodge which is situated adjacent to the Garden Room is hosting the ‘Remember Nelson’ Exhibition, featuring letters written by local hero Horatio Nelson and his protégé, Captain Sir William Hoste. Together with prints and displays charting Nelson’s battles, there is an original life mask of Lord Nelson cast in Vienna in 1800.
Brendan Hopkins, owner of The Hoste was delighted to confirm that the evening had raised over £1000 for Wells Community Hospital.
